end of the line

It has been over a year since my last update!
I haven't updated since my place got flooded in 2013.

I've been working on a ton of exciting stuff since then, and think I've really grown as an artist as well. Album artwork for CJSW's 2013 Fund Drive, all the illustrations for the Calgary Underground Film Festival this year, a new Mother Mother video, the Sled Island poster show, more FFWD covers, a 7" cover for Scion Sessions, a poster for the Polaris Prize, to name a few of the highlights.

But this post is to let you know that if you're interested in keeping up to date with my illustrations/projects/other life stuff then head over to my instagram, as that's the spot that's being kept up to date. Add me @deepcuts on your phone or take a look on your computer here:

and of course I'm constantly updating my site

k for fundraiser

Painted this K for a fundraiser last weekend to help spell out "Rock Central" on the Broken City patio. All the letters that sold raised about $1200 for a music program for special needs kids!
Big thanks to Danny Vacon of the Dudes and High kicks for organizing the event, and asking me to be a part of it!

Listen to a High Kicks song below:

what can i do vinyl

Last year I directed/animated a music video for Swedish Paper Bag Records' artist @SallyShapiro . Now the vinyl is out for single What Can I Do, and the cover is a still from the video which is pretty cool. The clear vinyl looks dope!

I've been featured in Swerve Magazine before in the past. This week there was an editorial about floral patterns that I appear in, read it here, and click through the photos section.

notorious b.i.g bday

Yesterday was Notorious B.I.G's birthday, it would have been his 41st.
I drew up this portrait of Biggie with his Jesus piece. Crazy and tragic to think he was only 24 when he passed, younger than myself.

Finished this piece.

Here's a progress shot, from my instagram.

I actually listened to a series of David Foster Wallace interviews a friend had sent me while  making this drawing originally, but maybe it would be too morbid to post some of the last words of someone who hung themselves with an image of a noose? So for your post related song of the day, here's a bird singing about hanging:
